Night Kollel
Night Kollel - A night kollel is very crucial for a new neighborhood. It is important for everyone to see their neighbors in a different light – fighting over a piece of gemara or halacha and the satisfaction of working out a hard sugya. In the kollel, people are encouraged to learn whatever their heart desires, however currently many are learning hilchos Mikvaos. The plan is to learn the halachas that are necessary for a new neighborhood. Har Shmuel is currently in middle of a mikvah project.
Daf Yomi
Any one that has ever tried to learn Daf Yomi knows what dedication is required. The Daf doesn’t wait for anyone – seven days a week. The shiur is given by R’ Yitzchak Elkayam – with a smile and warmth that attracts a large group. One of the members - Moshe Cohen when he spoke at the siyum for Sanhedrin – he enlightened us with why he is dedicated to the learning of Daf Yomi. He related a story that he was up in Lebanon during the war and was under fire – a bullet grazed his pants and he saw the wall next to his head being chipped away by bullets (only to hear the noise of shots later) he said to Hashem if I get out of here alive, I will study Daf Yomi.
